Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman investor, speaker, consultant and syndicated columnist. She is also an author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran has signed 53 deals as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater (New Jersey) as the second of ten children in an Irish-Catholic working class family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. Her family frequently depended on food delivery services for free from a local grocery store. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who drank often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. Corcoran later found out that she had dyslexia. She was a student at a local Catholic elementary school, and then began high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran who was in the process of failing several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
